Co-hosted by Tsinghua University's School of Law and CityU's School of Law, the 'Conference on Legal Education in Greater China—Meeting the Challenges of the Twenty-First Century', held at CityU 21 and 22 May, was the culmination of a long, cooperative relationship between the two institutions. Some essential ingredients in a comprehensive strategy for meeting the challenges faced by legal education emerged during the discussions.
The third technology transfer forum“Structural engineering for cost saving", co-organized by CityU and the Hong Kong Productivity Council on 21 May, disseminated the University’s mature technologies in building and construction.
An exuberant lion dance symbolizing the spirit of youth, power, strength and vitality marked the opening of the “International Conference on Youth Empowerment: A Cross-cultural Exchange” organized by the Department of Applied Social Studies (SS) on 17 May. Over 300 practitioners, scholars and students in social services from 34 cities in 14 countries flocked to CityU to share their findings and experiences in youth empowerment studies and initiatives at the conference that lasts until 20 May.
Global mobility is reshaping the world. With the speed of globalization, the rise of information technology and the dramatic increase in multinational enterprises, the world truly has become a global village. In order to prepare students for this reality, CityU encourages its undergraduate students to participate in overseas exchange programmes.
Fifteen CityU students from the Department of Building and Construction (BC), volunteered as architecture and cost planners in a student hostel re-development project in Guangxi province. The project, due to complete in October this year, will accommodate 288 primary students.
