A collection of over 50 applied research projects and products are on display at the University Concourse, 5-13 November, showcasing CityU's success in applied research and industrial collaboration.
The third technology transfer forum“Structural engineering for cost saving", co-organized by CityU and the Hong Kong Productivity Council on 21 May, disseminated the University’s mature technologies in building and construction.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an emerging technology expected to bring revolutionary development in the supply chain sector. A forum on “Advances in RFID Technology" at CityU on 30 March attracted over 100 academics, industrialists and business professionals craving new knowledge in the field.
On 5 February, the University announced the winners of the Fourth Applied Research Excellence Awards Competition, organized every two years by the Technology Transfer Office, to foster applied research and to recognize staff that excel in this area. Four awards were granted to six CityU researchers in recognition of their significant contributions to the social, industrial, and economic development of Hong Kong.
In addition to basic research, CityU is also committed to promoting applied R&D and commercializing research products. CityU is, in fact, the first university in Hong Kong to successfully incubate a technology company.
At an inauguration ceremony on 15 May to establish its Zhuhai Applied R&D Centres, CityU became the first local university to set up a research base in Guangdong's Southern Software Park.
