Olympian Grace Lau's triumphant return to alma mater
Ms Grace Lau Mo-sheung, an alumna of CityU, returned to her alma mater on 19 August to attend a celebratory gathering after winning the Bronze medal for Hong Kong in the Karate Women’s Kata in the Tokyo Olympics.

CityU alumna Ms Grace Lau Mo-sheung, a female karate specialist, will compete in the Karate Women’s Kata in the Tokyo Olympics at 9am (HKT) on 5 Aug (Thursday), vying for a gold medal for Hong Kong. President Way Kuo will join the teachers, students and alumni to watch the live broadcast on the CityU campus and cheer together for Grace.
Two teams of six students from the School of Creative Media (SCM) won the championship and the first runner-up prizes in the tertiary section of the Cyberport Website Design Competition. In addition to cash prizes, they were also awarded a summer internship at the Cyberport.
On 10 May the University Grants Committee (UGC) made an announcement concerning the Academic Development Proposals (ADPs) submitted by the eight UGC-funded institutions for the 2005-08 triennium. CityU’s proposal to make creative media a growth / priority area was endorsed. Out of the 840 second year intake top-up places that UGC allocated to the eight institutions, CityU received 210 places, the second largest number.
Two students from the School of Creative Media (SCM) clinched the “Best Digital Effects” trophy in the 2nd Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Excellence Awards (HKDEEA).
