CityU raised its standing among local tertiary institutions in this year ' s Competitive Earmarked Research Grants (CERG) applications, increasing its funding to HK$56.8 million, a 4.4% increase over last year ' s results of HK$54.4 million.
A PhD student in the Department of Biology and Chemistry has won the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) Young Scientist Award for the best oral presentation at the SETAC Europe 12th Annual Meeting in May. SETAC is an international organization that provides an exchange vehicle for environmental scientists worldwide.

More than 300 audience and performers danced to the rhythm of the Latin American beat at the University Circle, as the World City Cultural Night extravaganza drew to its finale. Held on 9 March in the Wei Hing Theatre, the extravaganza brought into the limelight an array of multi-cultural performances such as Scottish bagpipes, Australian songs, Indian dance, American jazz, Chinese music, English folkdance, Latin salsa and African drums, all under the theme of "Love and Harmony".
