15 academic subjects at CityU have been ranked in the top 50 in the world, according to the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2022, while Library and Information Science is ranked 2nd globally. These results place CityU 1st among Hong Kong universities for five consecutive years in terms of the highest number of subjects included in the top 50 GRAS list.
These days, pessimism abounds about Hong Kong's future, particularly in the wake of its weakening economy. Yet, according to Professor H K Chang, such gloomy feelings overlook Hong Kong's real strengths and the unique contributions the higher education sector can make to revitalize its dynamic role.
