Despite the region's current economic woes and increased unemployment rates, CityU's science and engineering students have received 30 per cent more job training placements over last year at multinational corporations in the Pearl River Delta region this summer.
More than 300 audience and performers danced to the rhythm of the Latin American beat at the University Circle, as the World City Cultural Night extravaganza drew to its finale. Held on 9 March in the Wei Hing Theatre, the extravaganza brought into the limelight an array of multi-cultural performances such as Scottish bagpipes, Australian songs, Indian dance, American jazz, Chinese music, English folkdance, Latin salsa and African drums, all under the theme of "Love and Harmony".
Four academic departments-- Biology and Chemistry (BCH), Electronic Engineering (EE), Economics and Finance (EF), and Accountancy (AC) and the Centre for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) are collaborating in a project to enhance students' learning and growth. The project, the Virtual Learning Support Centre for Students (VLSC), is a cyber location for participating departments to post web pages specifically devoted to students' learning.
