The President of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) discussed the importance of innovation during Speech Day at Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) College on 9 July.

Officiating at the ceremony, Professor Way Kuo shared in his address with the graduating students how rapidly the world had changed in terms of technological advancement and education system, among others, and that it was necessary to closely monitor changes in society.

“CityU initiated its Discovery-enriched Curriculum to cater for the changing needs of society,” he said. We encouraged all students to experience innovation since this experience would prepare them to practise at the level of international standards, he added.

Professor Kuo reminded students that in addition to challenging others we had to challenge ourselves, too, in order to stay innovative, and that young people could contribute to society only by pursuing inventive ways of thinking.
