Professor Wang Jiangyu Appears in TV Interview Analysing Changes in the International Order
On 19 January 2026, Professor Wang Jiangyu, Director of the School of Law Research Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law (CCCL) at City University of Hong Kong, appeared on Phoenix TV’s flagship current affairs programme Mainland Q&A for an in-depth interview with renowned host Ms Sally Wu. Professor Wang shared his insights on major international issues, including the U.S. actions toward Venezuela, the crisis in the international legal system, changes in the global governance framework, and new developments in China-U.S. relations.
During the interview, Professor Wang pointed out that the recent U.S. arrest of Venezuela’s president represented a blatant violation of international law and a new form of intervention aimed at securing oil resources. He analysed how such actions threaten the foundations of the current world order, predicted the emergence of three major global blocs, and emphasised that China should continue strengthening its own capabilities, deepen international cooperation, and actively participate in setting global rules to safeguard justice and stability.
