Hong Kong Commercial and Maritime Law Centre (IP Festival) Expert Lecture - Towards a Theory of Limited Exclusive Right in Big Data
The School of Law of CityU was honored to have Prof Guobin CUI (Associate Professor; Director of the Center for Intellectual Property Law, Tsinghua University School of Law) to give a public lecture titled “Towards a Theory of Limited Exclusive Right in Big Data” on 8 Jan 2020.
A welcome speech was given by Dr HE Tianxiang (Coordinator and Assistant Professor, SLW). Dr He introduced the background and the aims of the lecture. He also thanked all the participants for supporting the lecture.
Prof Cui emphasized recent important judicial cases of datasets in Mainland China, and finds that current unfair competition law protection is not satisfying enough. A special legislation that recognizes a limited exclusive right in datasets should be a better institutional choice.
After the lecture, the participants had an animated discussion with Prof Cui.
Dr He presented a souvenir to Prof Cui as a token of appreciation for his insightful lecture on behalf of the School of Law.

講座正式開始前，城大法律學院助理教授何天翔博士致歡迎辭。何博士介紹了本次講座的背景和目的。他亦感謝所有參與者對本次講座的支持。
崔教授講述了中國近年與大數據有關的重要司法案件，發現當前的反不正當競爭法保護並不足夠。他認為為大數據的有限專有權立法是更好的制度選擇。
講座後，參與者踴躍提問，與講者積極交流。
最後，何博士感謝崔教授富有洞察力的演講，並代表香港城市大學法律學院向講者致送紀念品。
