Professor Julien CHAISSE Appointed as Ambassador of the American Society of International Law
The School of Law at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is pleased to announce that Professor Julien CHAISSE, Professor & RGC Senior Research Fellow, has been appointed by ASIL President Professor Oona A. Hathaway as an Ambassador of the American Society of International Law (ASIL). His term begins on 1 November 2026. ASIL is the world’s leading learned society in international law. Its Ambassador program strengthens connections between the Society and the institutions and professional communities engaged in international law. Professor Chaisse also serves as an Advisory Board member of the Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL), based in Hong Kong. In his Ambassador role, he will help connect both AAIL and CityUHK with ASIL’s global network. He will share opportunities to attend ASIL meetings and contribute to its activities and serve as the local contact for events involving Hong Kong’s wider legal community. He will also work with fellow Ambassadors to coordinate outreach.
The appointment reflects Professor Chaisse’s international professional standing. It offers both CityUHK and AAIL an opportunity to expand their international connections and reach a wider audience through ASIL. Earlier this year, he was also elected Vice Chair of ASIL’s International Law and Technology Interest Group.

香港城市大學（城大）法律學院欣然宣布，夏竹立教授兼研資局高級研究學者獲美國國際法學會主席Oona A. Hathaway教授委任為該會大使，任期自2026年11月1日起生效。
美國國際法學會是國際法領域領先的學術組織。其大使計劃旨在加強學會與從事國際法相關工作的機構及專業社群之間的聯繫。夏竹立教授同時亦擔任總部位於香港的亞洲國際法律研究院顧問委員會成員。
出任大使後，夏竹立教授將協助把亞洲國際法律研究院及城大與美國國際法學會的全球網絡聯繫起來。他將分享參加美國國際法學會會議及參與該會活動的經驗，並擔任香港法律界相關活動的聯繫者，同時與其他大使合作外展工作。
是次任命體現夏竹立教授的國際專業地位，亦為城大及亞洲國際法律研究院提供了透過美國國際法學會拓展國際聯繫的機會。今年較早時候，夏竹立教授當選為美國國際法學會國際法與科技專題小組副主席。
