Congratulations to our BVM student, Audrey Wong, awardee of the HSBC Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) Scholarship 2021/22. The Scholarship intends to broaden horizons and help students reach new heights in the fields of science and technology, education, entrepreneurship, and more.
A research project led by Professor Chen Sheng, titled "Multi-disciplinary approaches to tackling the global public health threat of hypervirulent and multidrug-resistant (MDR) Klebsiella pneumoniae" received HK$38 million in research funding in the 12th round of the Theme-based Research Scheme (TRS) under the Research Grants Council (RGC) of the University Grants Committee (UGC) for a five-year project.

Large-scale Covid-19 testing for small mammals is the focus of an exciting new partnership between City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the major global diagnostics and genetic testing company Prenetics.
Inspired by our One Health initiative, the tests will be conducted by trained staff from the CityU Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) and the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) on site at the VMC, the largest veterinary clinic in Asia.
Dr Sean Yuan Hsiang-yu, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at CityU, and his team developed a mathematical model earlier that combined age-specific susceptibility to Covid-19 infections and social contact data, among others.

The Croucher Foundation granted the Croucher Innovation Award 2019 to Dr Kwan Ting Chow for her excellent scientific research achievement. Due to COVID-19, the Croucher Awards Presentation Ceremony was postponed until this year and was held at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong on 8 December 2021 to present awards to the recipients of the Croucher Innovation Awards 2019–2021 and Croucher Senior Fellowships 2020–2021.
