Anson Ho Kwan-kit, a student-athlete representing Hong Kong in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, was admitted through CityUHK’s Student-Athlete Learning Support and Admission (SALSA) scheme.

Anson's love for table tennis began at the age of five, inspired by his brother. Training at the Shenzhen Nanshan Sports School since he was 11, Anson honed his skills under exceptional coaches. In 2014, he joined the Hong Kong table tennis team, achieving notable victories, including winning the men's singles championship in the Philippines, participating in the Rio and Tokyo Olympics and recently the bronze medal in the table tennis mixed doubles at the Chengdu FISU World University Games in August 2023.

Through the SALSA scheme, Anson enrolled in courses on social issues, social services and psychology to help him acquire new knowledge and broaden his vision. The Physical Education Section at CityUHK’s Student Development Services and his dedicated teachers assist him in balancing his studies and training, for example providing video lectures during overseas competitions.

Anson strives for excellence in both academics and sports, enjoying the discipline required for excelling in athletics and finding that his studies relax him before competitions. He has no doubt that life at CityUHK positively influences his personal growth, knowledge and sports development.
