General Regulations

1. User Verification

All users are required to present their valid CityUHK identity card or QR code along with an additional photo ID at the sports venues. Users whose name or CityUHK identity document number does not match the eligibility will be rejected from using the facilities.

 

2. Guest Policy

Eligible users may invite guests (purchase online prior to using the sports facilities) to use designated sports facilities except for the Physical Fitness Room.  Details of the guest tickets are as follows:

 

  • Maximum Number of Guest Tickets Per Day.
  • Guest tickets must be purchased on the day of use ONLY.
  • Each guest ticket costs HK$30 and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Guests must be accompanied by an eligible host user upon entry to the sports facilities and must remain with the host throughout their visit. Guests must leave the facilities when the host user departs.
  • Host users are responsible for the conduct and compliance of their guests with all Sports Facilities Regulations during their stay in the sports facilities.
  • Guests must comply with all Sports Facilities Regulations, safety requirements, and instructions issued by Sports Centre staff.
  • Any breach of these regulations by a guest or host user may result in the suspension of the host user's guest privileges for a period of three (3) months. The University reserves the right to impose additional disciplinary measures where appropriate.
  • The Sports Centre reserves the right to refuse admission to, or remove from the facilities, any guest who fails to comply with these regulations.

 

3. Dress code

Users should be dressed in appropriate sportswear & sports shoes.

 

4. Equipment and Damage

Users will be held responsible for any wilful damage to the sports venue & equipment. For reasons of safety, any such damage should be reported immediately to the staff of the Physical Education Section.

 

5. Food and Drink

No food or drink except water is permitted inside the sports venues.

 

6. Lost and Found

  • Users should not leave valuables in the sports venues. The University will accept no responsibility for loss of personal property.
  • Articles found in the sports venues will be kept at the Physical Education Section for three days. All unclaimed articles will then be sent to the Facilities Management Office (Security) for disposal.

 

7. Smoking

Smoking is not permitted within the sports venues.

 

8. Adverse Weather

 

Outdoor Sports Venues

Users will be advised to leave when there is a thunderstorm warning or Amber/Red/Black Rainstorm Warning Signal in force.

 

Indoor Sports Venues

  • If the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued during normal opening hours, the sports venue shall remain open.
  • If the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal/Typhoon Signal 8 or above is issued before 7:00 am, the sports venue will not be opened. The sports venue will resume normal service around 2-3 hours after the signal has been lowered.
  • If Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, or an Extreme Condition is still in force at or after 4:00 p.m., the sports venue will remain closed for the rest of the day.
  • When a Pre-No. 8 Special Announcement is issued, users are advised to leave the sports venue as soon as possible.
  • Reopening of the sports venues will be subject to the actual weather and venue conditions.

 

Updates and announcements after the adverse weather conditions will be posted on the news of the Sports Facilities Booking & Information System.

 

9. Misconduct

In the case of misconduct or any behaviour inconsistent with the regulations governing the use of the sports facilities (or where the premises are being misused), the PE Section shall have the authority to expel or debar the user from the premises immediately. The case may report to the Disciplinary Committee of the university for further action. A written appeal against the decision may be given to the PE Section within fourteen days.

 

10. Proper Use of Sports Facilities

  • All sports facilities can only be booked for their designated and specific use, unless prior approval is obtained from the PE Section.
  • All users must observe and follow the regulations governing the use of sports facilities and also be responsible for their own safety and that of others while using the sports facilities.
  • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times while using the sports facilities.
  • All users should demonstrate courteous conduct so as not to cause any disturbance to other users.
  • All training courses, guest coaches, and organised competitions held within CityUHK sports facilities should receive prior approval from the PE Section.
  • Private coaching or profit-making activities within CityUHK sports facilities are strictly prohibited.

 

11. Enforcement of Regulations

Any breach of these rules and regulations will result in a warning and a request to leave the sports venue if the situation worsens. The University reserves the right to impose additional disciplinary measures where appropriate.

 

12. Revision of Regulations

The PE Section reserves the right to amend any of these regulations as necessary.
