The Hong Kong Book Fair, which had not been held for two years, ended after a smooth run on July 20. Thank you to all our readers for your continued support and the efforts of our colleagues for making the book fair a success.

The theme of our exhibition booth was “Tree of Knowledge”, a play on the way knowledge can be used to branch out like a tree and connect to people. We hope everyone can grow together in the process of exploring the truth, blooming infinite possibilities. We set up a “Knowledge Tree” photo booth for everyone to take part in, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

This year, CityU Press presented 70 new publications from various subjects, including Hong Kong Studies, Social Work, Culture and History, Law, China Studies, and Public health. We so pleased to report that many of these new titles have won warm praise from readers, including The History of Extra-curricular Activities of Schools in Hong Kong (in Chinese), Hong Kong in China (in Chinese), A Sinologist Speaks—Ezra Vogel on Relations between China, Japan, and the United States (in Chinese), Latin Terms in Hong Kong Legal Language (in Chinese), etc.

Detailed information about the publications can be found here:

We also launched limited edition cultural and creative products, including new styles of Press tote bags, a Japanese wooden cutlery set, and our stylish travel cup, all of which are printed with meaningful quotes to promote reading.

On the fourth day of the book fair (17 July), we were honored to have CityU President Way KUO, Vice-President Prof. LEE Kwok On, Prof. CHAN Hon Fu, Prof. YANG Mengsu, Mr. LEE Wai Kwong, and Chief-of-Staff Prof. YUEN Kwok Kit visit our booth.

Our Press also organized a book fair seminar, titled ‘‘The Past and Present of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals’’. We were honored to have Mr. LAU Chi-pang (Associate Vice President and Professor, Department of History, Lingnan University of Hong Kong) and Dr. TSANG Cheuk Yin (Lecturer, School of general education and Languages, Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong) as speakers to share the historical evolution, difficulties, and success of the Tung Wah Group of Hopsitals over the past 150 years as well as their respective role in Hong Kong's history at large.
