Requesting Desk Copies

How do I request a review copy?

If you are a member of the press or a media outlet and are interested in writing a book review or book introduction, please fill in this form with your personal information and book title information. Then we will contact you by email to arrange delivery. A copy of the publication in which the review appears should be subsequently sent to us for reference.

How long will it take to receive the review copy?

For local delivery, please expect one week for delivery. For overseas delivery, we will deliver by surface mail, which takes 10 to 45 working days by HK Postal Service depending on the delivery location.

How do I request an exam or desk copy of a book?

If you would like to request a desk or exam copy, please fill in this form with your personal information and book title information. Then we will contact you by email to arrange delivery.

What types of materials require permission?

All materials published by City University of Hong Kong Press and its imprint Policy Press are held under copyright and require permission for use.

How do I obtain permission?

If you wish to reproduce excerpts from one of our publications, please email us (upress@cityu.edu.hk) about your request. Please include the following information:

• author and title of the book
• edition number
• copyright year
• exact material, including page numbers, for which permission is being requested
• author and title of the work in which the material will appear
• publisher and publication date of the work in which the material will appear
• territory and languages in which the new work will be distributed
• any additional information concerning how the reproduced material will be used

We will respond to your request as soon as we can. Please allow sufficient time when requesting permission.
