Description
In an effort to equip aspiring educators with the necessary skills for the future, we recently organised a transformative 6-session AI Training Course titled "Train the Trainer AI Course for Future Teachers." The first three sessions were successfully held on 20 May, 27 May, 3 June 2024 , paving the way for an immersive experience in a local secondary school during sessions 4-6, where participants will act as tutors and engage directly with secondary school students.
The Education Bureau's strong emphasis on STEAM education and AI technology in secondary schools makes this training course particularly valuable. By actively participating, students have gained deeper insights into the application of innovative technologies within secondary education. They have delved into the intricacies of AI, explored its extensive database and available resources, and acquired essential teaching techniques tailored to secondary school settings. This comprehensive training aims to establish a strong foundation supporting the overall goal of promoting innovation and technology development (I&T) in Hong Kong, while simultaneously preparing students for their future careers as educators.
During the course, participating students were grouped together to design a comprehensive course outline specifically tailored for secondary school students. On 6 June 2024, they confidently presented their thoughtfully crafted curriculum, showcasing their impressive abilities.
The students' performances were exceptional, leading to well-deserved recognition. Awards were presented for categories such as Best Curriculum, Best Innovation, and Best Presentation, highlighting the students' dedication and creativity throughout the training course.
Looking ahead, in July, these talented students will have the opportunity to put their newfound knowledge and skills into practice during teaching sessions at a local secondary school. This invaluable experience will allow them to demonstrate their capabilities and showcase the impact of the training course.
The Train the Trainer AI Course for Future Teachers is not only empowering students with relevant AI knowledge but also fostering their passion for education and their commitment to shaping the future of learning. By nurturing these aspiring educators, we are confident that they will make a substantial contribution to the educational landscape while embracing the transformative power of technology.
