Teaching and Learning Arrangements for Semester A 2020/21
To: All Staff and Students
Subsequent to the announcement on 8 June 2020, the University has closely monitored the current public health situation in Hong Kong. With the surge of local COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, adjustments to the teaching and learning arrangements will be made for Semester A 2020/21 as given below:
-
Teaching will be delivered primarily in a real-time interactive online format
through Zoom via Canvas, the same platform we have been using since February 7,
2020. Teaching staff are expected to perform teaching duties at the scheduled time
on campus to ensure the most effective teaching and learning experience. -
Certain courses (such as courses with lab and practicum sessions) will be delivered
in a mixed mode format, i.e. with both online and face-to-face sessions.
Arrangements will be based on pedagogical and other practical considerations, as
determined by the academic units. -
Academic units should inform their students of the planned arrangements for
individual courses by August 15, 2020. -
Academic staff should record their lectures and will upload recordings so that
students who are unable to be in Hong Kong can continue their studies wherever
they are.
The University will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and may make further
adjustments based on the development of the pandemic after the commencement of the new
semester.
Please also be reminded that the University strictly follows the Government infection control
measures. Colleagues and students who come to the campus must adhere to Government and
University safety and health guidelines. Non-adherence may result in disciplinary action.
This is an unsettling time for many of us, and we thank you for your understanding and
cooperation during this challenging period. Please stay safe and healthy.
