SEE Faculty Member and PhD Alumnus won the Gold Prize in the TERA-Award Smart Energy Innovation Competition

Co-founders of i2Cool Limited, Dr. Edwin Tso (Assistant Professor) and PhD alumnus, Dr. Martin Zhu, have been awarded the Gold Prize in the TERA-Award Smart Energy Innovation Competition. This prestigious award recognizes their revolutionary Electricity-free cooling technology, for which they would receive USD$1 million as the winners.

i2Cool Limited has dedicated over six years to research and development in Passive Radiative Cooling Technology, and in 2021, they officially launched their first product, iPaint. This innovative cooling paint effectively reduces surface temperature without the need for electricity. Unlike traditional paint, which absorbs sunlight and heat, iPaint deflects and dissipates solar heat to the surrounding space through the mid-infrared wavelength range.

Dr. Tso and Dr. Zhu's team has published over 70 articles in top journals, demonstrating their unwavering commitment and hard work towards promoting a more sustainable future. We commend their dedication and applaud their remarkable achievements.

We extend our warmest congratulations to i2Cool Limited and their team on this incredible accomplishment. We eagerly anticipate their future successes and look forward to supporting them in their mission to create a more sustainable future.
