Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor (Power Management)

Research Assistant at the School of Energy and Environment

  • School of Energy and Environment at the City University of Hong Kong seeks a highly motivated Research Assistant to investigate environmental applications and impacts of the Blockchain technology for urban resilience and sustainability. Blockchain technology has received extensive media attention with respect to Bitcoin. However, the utility of this technology extends beyond the financial sector. Blockchain technology has the capacity to influence supply-chain management and resource conservation, among other things. This project will take an interdisciplinary approach to investigate the social, economic, and technological challenges for realizing potential environmental applications of this emerging technology.

    The successful applicant will have a strong and productive scientific record, be highly collaborative, inquisitive, and diligent. The candidate should have prior experience in one or more of the relevant fields: industrial ecology, environmental engineering, systems design, computer engineering, and network science.

    Experience with two of the following three areas is a requisite for this position: 1) Blockchain applications, 2) modeling and analysis of complex systems, and 2) Life Cycle Assessment.

    Ideal candidates should have their Masters or equivalent, and should demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Research Assistant in the field of gas adsorption and separation at the School of Energy and Environment

  • Duties
    The appointee will conduct advanced adsorbent materials synthesis and characterization, adsorption and separation study, and adsorption apparatus development.
  • Requirements
    The candidate should hold a MPhil degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering or other related engineering and science fields. Applicants with synthesis and characterization of porous materials such as MOFs, zeolites, and mesoporous materials background are practically encouraged to apply. Strong oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team are essential

    The appointee will conduct research in at least one of the following areas: renewable energy conversion, energy storage, device fabrication, efficiency characterization.
  • Requirements
    For Postdoc applicants: a PhD degree in a relevant science or engineering field and publication record.  For Research assistants: a Master degree or Bachelor (Honours) or equivalent in a relevant science or engineering field and preferably research experience.

    The appointee will conduct research in at least one of the following areas: solar photocataylsis, fuel cell and advanced refrigeration/air-conditioning.
  • Requirements
    Degree holder in relevant science or engineering fields: Ph.D. degree for Postdoc; Bachelor's or Master's degree for Research Assistant. Candidates with experience in theoretical modeling or experimental study are preferred.
