Prof. Hampson invited to present at two international veterinary meetings

Professor David Hampson (Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health/Chair Professor of Pathobiology) was an invited co-chair of a session on bacteriology and bacterial diseases at the 25th International Pig Veterinary Society Congress held in Chongqing, China, in June this year. This congress was held by the International Pig Veterinary Society (IPVS) for the exchange of knowledge related to pig health and production, and attracted more than 5000 delegates from 42 countries. Prof. Hampson presented a paper entitled “Automated genome sequence interrogation to support surveillance, tracking and control of Brachyspira hyodysenteriae infections”.

He was also the invited keynote speaker at the Veterinary Microbiology Section (“Fachgruppe Bakteriologie und Mykologie”) of the German Veterinary Research Organisation (“Deutsche Veterinärmedizinische Gesellschaft”) meeting held in Hannover, Germany, in June 2018. His presentation was entitled “What does it mean when Brachyspira hyodysenteriae is identified in healthy pig herds, and what can be done about it?”
