On 1 December 2025, the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) proudly hosted the JCC Research Gala 2025. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event featuring PhD students, this year’s Gala expanded to include postdoctoral researchers, providing a vibrant platform to showcase outstanding research and foster interdisciplinary collaboration across the College. The event highlights our commitment to the goals outlined in the JCC Strategic and Operational Plan 2024-2028, celebrating the dedication, creativity, and scholarly excellence of our students, postdocs and faculty supervisors.
Around 100 PhD students and postdocs presented their work through oral and poster sessions. We were honored to welcome our distinguished plenary speaker, Prof. Sheng Chen, Head of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition and Chair Professor of Microbiology at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prof. Chen shared an inspiring personal narrative of his academic journey from student to leading researcher, detailing the pivotal milestones and habits behind his success. A key message of his talk was the critical role of collaborative research in pushing the frontiers of scientific discovery.
