December 16, 2025

The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) was proud to co host the Hong Kong premiere of the documentary “Silent Pandemic” together with the One Health Hub of the School of Public Health, The University of Hong Kong (HKU). The event, titled “Exploring the One Health Approach to Tackle Antimicrobial Resistance” took place on 24 November 2025 and welcomed close to 80 professionals, academics and students.

The evening featured the first Hong Kong screening of “Silent Pandemic,” a film that spotlights the growing global threat of antimicrobial resistance, followed by a lively panel discussion. Dean Vanessa Barrs, Dean of the JCC, joined Dr Edmond Ma, Consultant at the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, along with academic staff from various HKUMed faculties, in a dialogue that highlighted the critical need for an integrated, cross disciplinary response. The conversation was further enriched by active contributions from students of both CityUHK and HKU.

The event highlighted the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, stressing that only collaborative, cross-sector strategies can combat drug-resistant infections. This partnership reflects JCC's dedication to advancing the One Health agenda through engagement and education, and we thank all participants and the One Health Hub at HKU for an inspiring forum.
