FAO Delegation Visits Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences

On 26 August 2025, the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) had the honor of hosting a delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This visit aimed to enhance collaboration and exchange knowledge on critical issues surrounding animal health and production.

The delegation included Mr. Thanawat Tiensin, Assistant Director-General, Director of the Animal Production and Health Division, and Chief Veterinarian at FAO, and Dr. Junxia Song, Senior Animal Health Officer at FAO. Their expertise in veterinary science and animal health is recognized globally, making their visit a valued opportunity for JCC.

The delegation engaged in meaningful discussions with the JCC Executive Team and faculty members. This meeting provided an invaluable platform for sharing insights and exploring collaborative avenues in veterinary education and research.

Following the discussions, the delegation toured the CityU Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC), led by its Executive Director, Dr. David Lee. The tour showcased its state-of-the-art facilities and advanced diagnostic and treatment resources. These capabilities demonstrate the VMC's commitment to delivering the highest standards of veterinary excellence, meeting all pets' routine and complex medical needs.

This visit not only highlights JCC’s commitment to fostering international partnerships in veterinary medicine but also emphasizes the importance of collaboration in addressing global health challenges. The discussions are expected to pave the way for future joint efforts in research and policy-making that will benefit both local and global communities.
