The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is hosting an exhibition titled “Story of the Ocean Giants: Cetaceans and Sea Turtles”, featuring a wide variety of aquatic animal specimens for the first time, prepared by CityUHK’s team, including 30 cetacean and sea turtle specimens donated and authorised by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), along with five true-to-scale models of these animals, referencing live individuals found in Hong Kong waters. Through innovative display technologies reconciled with conventional museum presentation, the exhibition aims to educate visitors about the health and threats these ocean giants face and how the public can contribute to conservation efforts.


The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) is pleased to partner with the College of Animal Sciences at Zhejiang University for our inaugural Summer Student Exchange Programme in Summer 2024. Hosted by the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health, this programme has welcomed five senior-year undergraduate students from Zhejiang University for a month-long laboratory attachment.


The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) celebrated the graduation of its PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's degree students at the JCC Commencement on 12 June 2024.


A delegation comprising Prof. Dirk Pfeiffer, Prof. Sophie St-Hilaire, Prof. Ákos Kenéz, Prof. Kai Liu and Dr Howard Wong highlighted the pivotal importance of veterinary medicine in achieving sustainable development goals at the Times Higher Education Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) in Bangkok, demonstrating the impact from their research and showcasing our sustainable practice initiatives at our CityUHK Farm.


A delegation from the Nansha District Government visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) on 9 May and met with the management team of the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC). The meeting fostered fruitful discussions on collaborative opportunities in scientific research and educational initiatives, aimed at strengthening cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong in the veterinary medicine field.


The College held another successful Town Hall Meeting on 28 May 2024. The Town Hall Meetings are held each semester to provide a platform for staff to come together as a community, celebrate our achievements, stay informed on our latest developments, and discuss the priorities and future plans of the college.

Professor Yu HUANG, Head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS), has recently been awarded The Peter Harris Distinguished Scientist Award by the International Heart Research Society. He is the first Chinese scientist to receive this prestigious award.


The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as the BVM year 5 students of the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine & Life Sciences, donned their pristine white coats, signifying a significant milestone in their academic journey.


Professor Dirk Pfeiffer, Chow Tak Fung Chair Professor of One Health and Director of the Centre for Applied One Health Research and Policy Advice at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), along with a team of interdisciplinary scientists from the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) One Health Poultry Hub, has developed a ground breaking computer tool called EPINEST(EPIdemic Network Simulation in poultry Transportation systems).



On 29 February 2024, faculty and students at CityU came together to organize a remarkable event called PetPower, showcasing their commitment to the greater good of the university community. This event, which brought together students, staff, and external professionals from renowned organizations such as the SPCA, Animals Asia, KAKATO, SCOPE, and Professor Paws Inc., aimed to promote animal welfare, strengthen community bonds, and raise awareness about responsible pet ownership.
