Buffalo-human Relations to Assess Anthropogenic Influences on Buffalo as Agents of Conservation
This project will assess human attitudes toward buffalo as conservation agents on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The appointee will use a social sciences approach to understand the substantial interactions between buffalo and the human population so that the role of buffalo in biodiversity conservation can be optimised.
Assist in the design and research work for the project, data collection (including collecting data from the public using social science methods) and data analysis, prepare reports, organise stakeholder meetings, edit websites, and perform any other project-related duties as assigned.
A Master's/Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences/Geography/Anthropology/Psychology or a related discipline, and no more than 6 years of service at the University. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, a strong work ethic, the ability to work as a good team-player and problem-solver, and willingness and ability to respond to challenges to acquire new skills are required. Experience in coordinating and collecting data using surveys, interviews and/or focus groups is highly desirable.
