Part-time Postdoc in the Department of English (Appointment for 10 months) [Ref. B/R/1163/09]

 

Project

Preparing STEM Students and Teachers with Extended Learning Opportunities through Flipped/Hybrid Classrooms: The Case of Study of English-medium Instruction (EMI) STEM Students in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom

Duties

Develop materials for teaching and learning STEM pedagogy; assist the project leader in performing participants recruitment, collecting data, conducting interviews, co-ordinating with local STEM academics, and data analysis; prepare and update related documentation (including work progress reports, ethics, fieldwork records, literature reviews, article writing); be responsible for project management; and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A PhD degree in Applied Linguistics/Language Studies/Education/Psychology or related Social Sciences disciplines with research experience, and no more than 3 years of experience after the award of a PhD degree. Experience in SPSS/NVivo or related software, knowledge of multimedia and online teaching platforms, proficiency in quantitative analysis and research methodology, computer knowledge, demonstrated ability to carry out research independently, good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, good interpersonal skills, strong organisational skills, and ability to work independently and within a team are required. Proficiency in Cantonese would be an advantage.
