Genetic Characterization of Avian Pathogens in Hong Kong and Development of Glycoconjugate Vaccine against Colibacillosis

Join our team led by Professor Surya PAUDEL for an exciting opportunity to contribute to the comprehensive characterization of avian bacterial isolates. The position offers you a chance to enhance your wet lab experience becoming familiar with pheno-and genotypic tools used for bacterial characterization.

Duties

  1. Developing and executing laboratory protocols, encompassing tasks such as antibiotic sensitivity testing, DNA/plasmid extraction, PCR and sequencing;
  2. Conducting a comprehensive literature review in the field of antimicrobial resistance in wild birds; and
  3. Adapting to various research needs and undertaking additional tasks as directed.

Requirements

A Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related fields, with no more than 6 years of service at the University. Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting and proficiency in molecular biology techniques are essential. Strong written and spoken English communication skills are a distinct advantage. Ability to work effectively within a team and proactive willingness to respond to challenges and acquire new skills are desirable.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
