Part-time Research Assistant (2 posts) in the School of Creative Media (Appointment for 4 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. C/R/476/09]

 

Project

Multimodal Hong Kong: Documenting Sensory Cultural Heritage through Soundscape and Smellscape.

Duties

  1. Assist in literature reviews in the fields of soundscape, smellscape, and intangible heritage;
  2. Organise and conduct interviews with research participants and other stakeholders;
  3. Transcribe recordings of field interviews and translate to English;
  4. Assist in content analysis of interviews;
  5. Assist in the collection of field data (sensory walks, interviews/surveys, audiovisual recordings, air sampling); and
  6. Assist in the management of the administration of the research project (e.g. preparing written and oral reports).


Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Creative Media/ Communication/ Acoustic Engineering/ Psychology or related disciplines, with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University;
  2. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, as well as a foundation level of spoken Putonghua are required;
  3. Skills in computer-assisted content analysis, e.g. R CRAN is a strong plus; and
  4. Experience in field data collection (sensory walks, interviews/surveys, audio-visual recordings, air sampling) would be an advantage.
