Information Technology Officer in the Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies [Ref. C/764/09]

 

Duties

Assist in matters related to postgraduate studies and other university-wide initiatives.  Main duties include to:

  1. Coordinate and update departmental websites, and develop new websites for other initiatives, e.g. identifying and proposing insights and materials to support the design and development of websites;
  2. Compile statistical reports through conducting data analysis, and prepare presentations for various purposes;
  3. Organise, maintain, update, and develop the necessary databases to support institutional data analysis;
  4. Plan various statistical reports through data analysis; propose diverse ideas to visualise the results by considering insights gleaned from data, and the context surrounding the data;
  5. Stay up-to-date with the latest tools and technologies in data systems, be sensitive to update requirements of data systems, and prepare feasible and reasonable reports to enhance the system;
  6. Respond to regular and ad-hoc data requests;
  7. Provide IT support and advice to resolve IT-related issues for the office; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Statistics/Business Information Technology/Data Sciences, or related fields;
  2. At least 7 years of working experience, preferably in the higher education sector;
  3. Adept at translating complex data analyses into layman's terms to facilitate decision making;
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Access and Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.;
  5. Demonstrated skills in data storytelling, strong experience in cleaning, organising, and visualising data via Python, Tableau, or its equivalent; 
  6. Expertise in using Excel, SPSS, or equivalent statistic tools, and fluency in SQL or other big data querying languages;
  7. Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, PHP, HTML, and JavaScript;
  8. Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese;
  9. Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  10. Ability to work independently and under pressure;
  11. A strong sense of responsibility is required; and
  12. Knowledge and practices in machine learning are strongly preferable.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
