IT Officer in the School of Data Science [Ref. A/636/09]


Duties

  1. Lead the development of GPU cluster and AI computing facilities to meet the teaching and research needs of the School;
  2. Setup and manage a medium-sized computer laboratory;
  3. Manage the School’s official website and web applications;
  4. Perform installation, maintenance and daily operation of the School computing facilities including GPU cluster;
  5. Handle IT incidents, network, systems faults, user requests, system administration and troubleshooting job enquiries;
  6. Provide technical support for E-Learning and collaboration platforms (e.g. Zoom and Microsoft Teams);
  7. Coordinate with parties concerned on the operation and maintenance of the computing systems and services;
  8. Support the daily operational maintenance of all existing systems of the School; and
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related Engineering disciplines, with at least 3 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in administration of AI computing servers;
  2. Experience in implementing and supporting computing solutions of various platforms including Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS and Linux systems, as well as experience in web administration and development (e.g. HTML/CSS, and Drupal);
  3. Knowledge of systems administration and hyper-converged infrastructure using VMware, Nutanix, or VDI technologies, preferably with knowledge of Cloud Computing;
  4. Sound knowledge of medium-size server setup, configuration and administration, especially Email and VPN servers, and firewall, apart from the usual desktops and workstations;
  5. Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills;
  6. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
  7. Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
