Research Assistant in the Centre for Applied Computing and Interactive Media (Appointment for 12 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. C/R/492/09]

The Centre for Applied Computing and Interactive Media (ACIM) is the media lab of the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong.  It is a research platform that promotes creative innovation at the intersection between computation and new media technologies.  ACIM researchers establish new synergies, competencies, and technological applications in the field of art-tech that contribute to the expansion of the domain of artistic and cultural practice and they build new knowledge domains and applications in creative technology that directly serve the social good.

ACIM is hiring a research assistant to manage an AR tourism project, CITY IN TIME. CITY IN TIME brings Hong Kong’s extraordinary history back to life by transforming smartphones into magic ‘augmented reality’ windows contrasting 360-degree panoramic images of old Hong Kong with today’s surroundings.  More details about the project is available at www.cityintime.hk

Duties

  1. Act as production leader/project manager of CITY IN TIME;
  2. Report to the Project Director and the Creative Director of CITY IN TIME;
  3. Lead the research team and programme team;
  4. Plan and supervise the research and AR artwork productions;
  5. Liaise with funding body, contractors, historians, artists, designers and creative technologists;
  6. Liaise with internal legal, research and finance departments;
  7. Manage app and website;
  8. Manage budget and procurement;
  9. Prepare Audit Report and Progress Reports; and
  10. Conduct evaluations.

 

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts/Visual Arts/Art History/Cultural Management/Design, or related disciplines, with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University;
  2. At least 5 years’ professional full-time experience in local arts and cultural industry or art-tech fields;
  3. Fluency in both spoken and written English and Cantonese;
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Offices and Adobe software;
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation and being a good team player; and
  6. Experience with government-funded projects and/or other grant management are required.
  7. Knowledge and experience with AR software would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
