Visiting Fellow in the School of Law (Appointment for 24 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. B/R/1256/09]

Duties

The appointee will be involved in primarily reviewing and teaching courses related to Hong Kong civil court practice. In Semester A, the civil practice courses that are typically offered include Civil Litigation Practice, Professional Conduct and Practice, Interlocutory Advocacy and Interviewing, and Litigation Writing and Drafting. In Semester B, the courses with civil practice components include the Bar Course, Family Law Practice, Personal Injuries Practice, Financial Regulatory Practice, Trail Advocacy, and Chinese for Legal Practice. Depending on the needs of the programme and the interests/expertise of the appointee, the appointee will normally be required to conduct lectures in no more than 2 courses and teach the small groups in no more than 3 courses in each semester. Duties may be carried out during daytime or in the evening. The appointee may carry the title of Teaching Consultant/Senior Teaching Consultant.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification plus substantial experience (10 years PQE or more) as a solicitor or barrister engaged primarily in civil court practice in Hong Kong are required.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Terms of appointment will be based on the current visiting remuneration package.
