Welcome to CityU for Research Postgraduate Studies! To facilitate your study journey at CityU, the school of Graduate Studies (SGS) will communicate with you via email regrading enrollment and important matters related to your study.For more information about RPg(Research Postgraduate) Programmes,please visit CityU's official website.

 

Master’s Programmes

 

1.

Your Programme of Study

 
 

You should check the Programmes and Courses website to familiarize yourself with the curriculum structure of your programme. You should also attend your Departmental Orientation to meet with your teachers.

 

 

2.

Your Timetable and Course Registration

 

Semester A 2025/26 will start on 1 September 2025. Some courses may have been pre-registered for you. You can check your class schedule in AIMS from 29 July 2025 onwards:

Select the Course Registration menu

  3.

Click My Detail Schedule to display details of your class schedule

 

Please call Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies – Master’s Students (Records) at 3442 9014 during office hours if you cannot retrieve your class schedule.

 

 

For courses which are web-enabled, you may add/drop them on the web according to the time tickets assigned (available for checking in AIMS from 19 August 2025). To check your course registration time ticket.

Login to AIMS

Select the Course Registration menu.

 

3.

Click Registration Status and Time Ticket

 

For courses which are not web-enabled, you may submit add/drop requests to your home academic units via AIMS (available in AIMS on 11 August 2025). The deadline for add/drop of courses in Semester A 2025/26 is 8 September 2025.. Please visit the Course Registration website for more information about course registration in Semester A 2025/26 which will be available in early August 2025.

Credit Transfer

 

Under the Academic Regulations for Master’s Degrees, students are able to transfer credit units to the University. Credit transfer is given for academic work completed and for recognized professional or vocational qualifications. For details, please click here.

Applications should be submitted no later than 29 August 2025.

 

 

4.

Electronic Communication

 

a.

Important information related to your studies, such as alerts to view your e-statement of tuition fees and announcements on course registration, class schedules, examinations, etc., will be sent to the CityUHK email account assigned to you and/or posted in the CityUHK Announcement Portal (CAP).

 

b.

 

You should check your student email regularly or set up email forwarding to your personal email to ensure you do not miss any important communication from the University. Failure to do so does not constitute a valid excuse for missing deadlines for handing in course assignments, submitting various applications, or payment of fees, etc.

   
   
   
   
 

c.

You are also encouraged to visit the student orientation website at www.cityu.edu.hk/orientation for important information related to new students.

5.

Rules and Regulations

 

The University has rules and regulations governing academic matters, tuition fees, enrolment and related issues that students must observe. Visit our website to read the rules and regulations in detail.

 

6.

Academic Honesty

 

Academic honesty is central to the conduct of academic work. To enhance students’ understanding of academic honesty, all new students admitted in Semester A 2025/26 are required to complete the online tutorial and quiz, and submit the online declaration on or before 30 November 2025 in order to access their grade results online. For details, please visit here and complete the online declaration as soon as possible.

 

7.

Tuition and Other Fees

 

a.

 

The payment schedule and methods are available at cityu.edu.hk/fo/htm/tpg_fees.htm . You may view your account summary in AIMS and find out more details about the tuition fee arrangement at cityu.edu.hk/sgs/files/student/tpg/Tpg_fees.pdf.

 

b.

 

An e-statement of account for Semester A 2025/26 will be posted in AIMS [Student Record tab > My Finance] on 16 August 2025. If the statement balance is not settled in full by 1 September 2025, a late payment charge of 2% of the outstanding balance will be added to your account.

 

8.

Students with Special Educational Needs

 

Students with special educational needs are advised to inform the University so that where possible, appropriate assistance can be provided. Please complete the “Special Educational Needs Declaration”, which will be available in AIMS [Student Record tab > My Applications (for Undergraduate and Master’s Programmes) > Special Educational Needs Declaration] from 28 July to 13 September 2025.

 

9.

Minimum Graduation Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

 

For master’s students admitted in Semester A 2024/25 and thereafter, the minimum graduation CGPA is 2.0

10.

Graduation Dates

 

a.

 

The graduation date of individual students is determined by students’ own study progress. Students who complete their graduation requirements in a specific semester/term will have the corresponding graduation date of that semester/term. The graduation dates for each semester/term are pre-approved by Senate. Students graduating in the same semester/term will have the same graduation date shown on their award certificates. The three graduation dates in an academic year fall in February, June and October. Details of the graduation dates are available at cityu.edu.hk/sgs/student/masters/info-graduates/awardcert. Students should plan their studies ahead to fulfill their graduation requirements in their preferred semester/term.

 

b.

 

After fulfilling all their graduation requirements, students will not be able to defer their graduation to a later semester/term.

 

c.

 

The University’s graduation dates for 2025/26 and 2026/27 are as follows:

11.

Award Certificate

 

a.

 

The award certificate will be ready for collection normally in March (for graduates in Semester A), July (for graduates in Semester B) and November (for graduates in Summer Term).

 

b.

 

The date to be printed on the award certificates will be the graduation date of the students' graduating semester/term.

 

12.

Maximum Period of Study

 

Students shall complete all programme requirements within the stipulated maximum period of study, inclusive of programme transfer and any periods of leave of absence and suspension of studies. You may find the normal and maximum study period of individual master's programmes at cityu.edu.hk/sgs/student/masters/regulations/maxstudyperiod/. Students who cannot complete all programme requirements for graduation within the maximum study period will be required to discontinue their studies.

 

13.

Withdrawal of Studies

 

If you subsequently decide not to study at the University after enrolment, please submit your withdrawal notification via AIMS by the end of Week 2 of Semester A 2025/26 (13 September 2025). Otherwise, you will be liable for the tuition fees payable for the semester in accordance with the Regulations on Tuition Fees.

 

14.

The Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies provides an array of services to postgraduate students, including certification of student records, application for transcript of studies, replacement of Student Identity Card, etc. Students are welcome to visit our service counters should they have any inquiries or requests regarding their studies at CityUHK.
