Poisonous heavy metals such as the highly toxic cadmium are raising public health concerns because they are increasingly being detected in the food supply chain.

Dr Richard Cheung Yun-hing, Associate Professor in the Department of Biology and Chemistry at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), will discuss the public health implications of his research into high concentrations of heavy metals, including cadmium, found in eight types of popular shellfish widely sold in Hong Kong’s wet markets.
