March 18, 2026

The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences successfully hosted a Continuous Professional Development event focused on the diagnosis and therapy of feline lymphoma at the Rongjin Hotel, Tianhe District, Guangzhou. The event attracted more than 70 attendees, showcasing a strong interest in feline veterinary medicine.

Among the JCC participants were Dean Vanessa Barrs and our Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Clinical Programme Manager, Dr. Cherry Lee. The seminar featured esteemed speakers, Adjunct Professor Fraser Hill and Clinical Assistant Professor Jane Yu, who collaborated on presentations covering both major aspects of feline lymphoma. They began with Feline Large Cell Lymphoma: From Clinical Presentation to Pathology, where they shared valuable insights into the diagnostic features and pathological aspects of large cell lymphoma in cats, equipping veterinary practitioners with essential knowledge. They continued with a presentation on Diagnosing Feline Small Cell Lymphoma in General Practice. They focused on low-grade intestinal T-cell (small cell) lymphoma, detailing practical diagnostic strategies and key clinical signs relevant to everyday veterinary practice.

Additionally, Executive Director Dr. David Lee introduced the CityU Veterinary Medical Centre and CityU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory services, providing attendees with an overview of the veterinary diagnostic and clinical services offered at both places. This segment enhanced participants' understanding of the available support for clinical diseases.

The event also featured an introduction to the CityUHK BVM Partner Practice Programme, followed by an engaging overview of the new Master of Veterinary Medicine (MVetMed), to be launched in September 2026 by the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, highlighting opportunities for veterinary professionals to advance their careers.

In a related initiative, the JCC team visited 10 different veterinary hospitals in Guangzhou to explore collaboration opportunities for student placements. This outreach reflects our commitment to fostering professional partnerships and enhancing practical training opportunities for veterinary students.

Overall, the seminar was marked by enthusiasm among participants, promoting collaboration and continuous learning among veterinary professionals in Guangzhou and beyond. Many participants expressed stong interest in the MVetMed programme. This indicates a growing commitment within the veterinary community to advance their postgraduate studies and deepen their expertise.
