Prof. Zhang serves as Dean of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School and Professor at the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering. His research centres on the controllable synthesis, structural regulation and spectroscopic characterisation of carbon nanomaterials, with world-leading work on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). He has pioneered key advances in SWNT CVD growth and structural regulation, including innovative methods for SWNT intramolecular junction growth, Raman spectroscopy-based characterisation of SWNT electronic and mechanical properties, the discovery of unique nanotube buckling behaviours, and scanning probe microscopy-enabled “nano-welding” for nanodevice fabrication. A leading international expert in carbon nanomaterials, Prof. Zhang has received numerous prestigious academic distinctions. His key accolades include election to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, two National Natural Science Awards, and more. With his profound academic expertise, extensive research experience and distinguished industry and academic connections, Prof. Zhang will bring tremendous value and elevate our department’s academic influence both nationally and internationally.
