Congratulations to Mr. GUO Jiaxin Eric, PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Alicia AN in the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), for receiving the Student Poster Award with a cash prize in the 11th International Congress on Membranes and Membrane Processes (ICOM 2017) held in Hilton San Francisco Union Square, San Francisco, CA USA, in the period, 29 July – 4 August 2017.
Professor Martin Beniston of The University of Geneva, and former vice chairman of one of the working groups in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), delivered the 5th SEE Colloquium on 10th May, 2017. He is currently leading a major European project (www.acqwa.ch) to study the potential impacts of climate change on the Alps.
The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) congratulates Miss Yiran Chen, our Year-2 undergraduate student, for winning the prestigious Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship. Miss Chen is only one of the 5 recipients from City University of Hong Kong.
The work by Dr. Denis Yu and his group appears on the cover of ChemElectroChem. They reported the addition of Li stabilizes the Na0.7MnO2 structure, and thereby improves its cycling stability as cathode in Na-ion battery.
Dr. Chunhua Liu proposes a new electric magnetic-geared (EMG) machine, which artfully incorporates the magnetic gear into an outer-rotor inserted permanent-magnet machine.

On December 13th, 2016 Hong Kong Electric (HKE) announced a reduction in the Net Tariff by 17.2% starting January 1st, 2017. In the meantime, CLP announced the frozen Average Tariff for 2017 with a rebate. The official justifications provided by HK Electric were first that in reducing its electricity price, the utility was returning to customers the refunds HKE had received from government as rents and rates had been overcharged in the past.
Students taking the undergraduate course, SEE4217 Waste and Wastewater Treatment, offered by the School participated in the visit to Shatin Sewage Treatment Works on 6 April 2017 (Thursday).
