Following its earlier announcement of the launch of the flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme “HK Tech 300” with an allocation of HK$500M, CityU held the HK Tech 300 Seed Fund Presentation Ceremony on 29 July 2021, presenting seed funds with the total sum of HK$6.5M. The scheme, which was launched in March, covers fields including information and communications technology, artificial intelligence, biotech and health, education and financial technologies. It is expected to last at least three years and benefit a total of 300 start-up teams.

Dr. Edwin Tso, Assistant Professor, was recently invited by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) of the HKSAR Government to give a presentation on “Daytime Passive Radiative Cooling in Hong Kong: Past, Present, and the Future” on 14 July 2021 at the lecture theatre of Hong Kong Science Museum. To promote energy saving and conservation, Dr. Tso introduced an advanced building energy-saving technology, namely daytime passive radiative cooling, to the government officials from various bureau/departments in the presentation.

GRF_faculties_b
The Research Grants Council (RGC) has just announced the results of the GRF and ECS exercises for 2021/22. In this latest competition, SEE faculty members received an overall success rate of 48%, with 12 out of 25 applications awarded for GRF or ECS.

An internal retirement farewell party was held for Professor Johnny Chan, Chair Professor of Atmospheric Science and the founding Dean of the School of Energy and Environment, on 30 June 2021. Around 50 guests, including SEE faculty members, alumni, students, and administrative staff, joined the party via the online platform or in person.
