SEE PhD student Mr. Oluwafemi Ebenezer ADEYERI, co-supervised by Prof. Wen Zhou and Prof. Xuan Wang, published a research paper entitled “Minimizing uncertainties in climate projections and water budget reveals the vulnerability of freshwater to climate change” in One Earth. This work addresses the critical issue of global water scarcity and its implications for agriculture, food security, and human sustainability.
Prof. Edwin TSO, Prof. WU Wei and Prof. WANG Jian from the School of Energy and Environment at CityU, and Prof. LI Weihong and Prof. DUAN Penghao from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at CityU participated the first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao GBA Energy Technology Forum and the launch of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao GBA Engineering Thermophysics Society and Guangdong Engineering Thermophysics Society, which were supported by Guandong Provincial Association for Science and Technology and Guangzhou Association for Science and Technology. Professor Kim and his colleagues published a paper on the side effects of geoengineering methods in Communications Earth & Environment. Ultimately, we must transition to a decarbonized society for a sustainable world, but it will require a lot of social cost and effort.

The SUSI for Scholars program is a premier academic exchange program of the U.S. Department of State that aims at enhancing leadership skills and deepening understanding of U.S. institutions and culture.
School of Energy and Environment (SEE) recently hosted a highly informative and engaging Tech Talk focused on the theme of “Hydrogen and Green Energy”. The Tech Talk, held on 16 March 2024 featured Prof. Xue WANG, Prof. Zhenbin WANG, and Prof. Sai Kishore RAVI of SEE in the field who shed light on the future prospects and advancements in hydrogen-based technologies and sustainable energy solutions.

On the 11th and 13th of March, a group of undergraduate students taking the Gateway Education course GE1308, led by Prof. Sai Kishore RAVI, visited the solar farm and wastewater treatment facilities at Siu Ho Wan, managed by Drainage Services Department (DSD). This visit gave them a close look at how renewable energy is integrated into Hong Kong’s sewage treatment facilities, in line with the city’s climate action goals.
