Prof. Angus Yip, Professor of the School of Energy and Environment, is recently elected as a member of Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences (YASHK) for 2022. The Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences (YASHK) was established in 2018 as a chapter of The Hong Kong Academy of Sciences (ASHK), the objective of YASHK is to gather young scientists to jointly promote the development of science and technology with the ASHK.

A group of over 100 SEE students, academic faculties, administrative staff, together with their families and friends joined SEE Barbecue Night at an outdoor barbecue restaurant in Taipo on 20 December 2021. The event was organized by SEE Student Chapter, led by Dr. Edwin Tso, Assistant Professor, aiming to strengthen the sense of belonging and cohesiveness to the School and the University.

Dr. Theodora Nah, Dr. Jin Shang, Dr. Chunhua Liu, Dr. Yun Hau Ng, and Prof. Chak K. Chan, of the School of Energy and Environment at CityU have received over HKD$5M funding from the Green Tech Fund (GTF). This 3-year research project, entitled “Portable and low-cost sensors for the ambient air monitoring of BTEX and other volatile organic compounds”, will develop sensors to speciate atmospheric volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

SEE organized SEE Tech Talk Series - Waste as Resources on 11 December 2021. Through this online seminar, Dr. Henry He, Dr. Jason Lam, and Dr. Lin Zhang shared their insights on turning waste into resources. The speakers also shared with the industry and audiences their views on how technologies could be adopted to address the waste issues facing by the society, with the ultimate goal of promoting sustainability.
