Lai Chi Wo Fieldtrip_a
On March 8, 2025, under the guidance of the faculty members from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), including Prof. Patrick Sit, Prof. Patrick Lee, and Prof. Wanxin Li, a group of undergraduate students enrolled in SEE3001: Energy and Environmental Policy, along with other interested undergraduate students, visited Lai Chi Wo as part of a service-learning project.

37 students joined a field trip to visit the Shatin Racecourse on a Saturday morning, not for horse racing nor gambling, but to see their energy saving system.

Students taking the undergraduate course, SEE4217 Waste and Wastewater Treatment, offered by the School participated in the visit to Shatin Sewage Treatment Works on 6 April 2017 (Thursday).

A group of 32 postgraduate students studying the course, SEE6102/SEE8112 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Technologies, went behind the classroom scenes to visit the building management system room, chillers and cooling towers at CityU on 1 April 2017 to see the operations of essential building facilities such as the chiller plant, cooling tower, and also renewable systems such as solar/hot water. Students understand how buildings energy usages are monitored and controlled.

Students taking the undergraduate course, SEE4001 Engineers in Society, offered by the School participated in the visit to the Hong Kong Organic Waste Recycling Centre (HKOWRC) on 29 March 2017 (Wednesday).

Students taking the undergraduate course, SEE2201 Introduction to Environmental Engineering, offered by the School participated in the visit to the "ElectriCity" of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited on 21 February 2017 (Tuesday).

Students taking SEE6101 Energy Generation and Storage System learnt about the concepts underlying biomass energy and also energy conversion methods such as heat engines/Rankine cycles. The students finally got a chance to see the operations of the principles in real life. On 12 November 2016 (Saturday), 33 students visited T · PARK. It is actually not only a park for recreation, but also a facility where the sludge is burnt and converted to electricity.

Students taking the Gateway Education course, GE1337 Urban Green City: Pollution and Solution, offered by the School participated in the visit to the Transformation Park (T-Park) on 2 November 2016 (Wednesday).  T-Park is a sludge treatment facility using advanced technology to transform Hong Kong in the area of waste-to-energy.

A group of 31 MSc Energy and Environment students and research degree students taking the course, SEE6213/SEE8221 Wastewater Engineering and Water Quality Assessment, from the School of Energy and Environment visited the Shatin Sewage Treatment Works on 1 November 2016 (Tuesday).
