From 10 to 14 October, Professor Michael Ngai, Council Chairman of CityUHK, visited Doha, the capital of Qatar, and Almaty, the largest city in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Professor Ren Yang, Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Physics at CityUHK has been elected a 2025 Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS). As cited by the APS, Professor Ren pioneered the development of high-energy synchrotron X-ray instrumentation and its transformative applications in materials physics, enabling unprecedented insights into structure-property relationships.

This prestigious honour recognises his pivotal role in advancing CityUHK’s collaborations with institutions across the Belt and Road region, particularly in the realms of teaching, research, and academic exchange.

CityUHK will confer honorary doctoral degrees on three distinguished individuals in recognition of their significant contributions to education and societal well-being. The recipients, Mr Lester G. Huang, Professor Anna Fontcuberta and Professor Hesheng Chen, will receive their awards at the Honorary Awards Ceremony on 30 October.
