CityU acquires prestigious veterinary clinic
City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is pleased to announce that the University has acquired full ownership of the Peace Avenue Veterinary Clinic (PAVC), a leading veterinary clinic in Hong Kong, starting from 1 September 2016. It will be used as a veterinary clinic by the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM). The acquisition is a strategic investment for CityU as well as for veterinary medicine and animal welfare in Hong Kong.
“The prestigious Peace Avenue Veterinary Clinic has an impressive history of quality animal care service,” said Professor Way Kuo, CityU President. “The Clinic will play a significant role in the development of SVM.”
CityU’s vision is to build a university clinic similar to those at top veterinary schools in Australia and the US where excellence in veterinary education goes hand in hand with first-rate customer service.
“Exciting new and cutting edge specialties will be added in phases in response to the dramatic changes taking place in veterinary medicine in Hong Kong and the world, to ensure that we meet current and future needs for more varied services,” said Professor Michael Reichel, Dean of SVM.
Established in March 2014 in collaboration with Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SVM aims to become a centre of excellence in Hong Kong by contributing to the highest standards of animal health care and veterinary teaching, research and service in Asia, with particular emphasis on emerging infectious diseases, food safety, animal welfare and aquatic production.
