CityU's Academic Exchange Office has organized an exhibition to explain the details of its Student Exchange Fund (SEF) and the sponsorship the fund offers for the academic year 2003-04.

The exhibition kicked off on 23 September and will continue until 27 September. Students interested in the SEF programme are invited to visit the exhibition during the information sessions, 11 am to noon.

The exchange programme is open to full-time bachelor's degree students who have completed at least one year of study. Participating students will be selected primarily on the basis of academic merit and suitability. Students who pursue one semester or a full academic year under the exchange study scheme are eligible to apply for sponsorship. Successful SEF candidates will receive a maximum of 50% of the total costs incurred for passage, accommodation and incidental charges.

To date, CityU has established links with about 40 institutions outside Hong Kong. In the year 2002-03, about 160 students from Hong Kong and overseas are participating in the scheme. In the coming academic year, SEF sponsorship under the University Grants Council (UGC) will provide exchange studies of one or two semesters for up to 364 students.

Overseas institutions that have signed student exchange agreements with CityU include Canada's University of Western Ontario, Concordia University and McGill University, Carnegie Mellon University, Syracuse University and Purdue University in the US, Lancaster University in England, National University of Singapore, and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Korea University and Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology in Korea, Shanghai's Jiao Tong University, Jilin University, Zhejiang University and Zhongshan University in the Mainland.
