CityUHK Annual Report garners international recognition for excellence in reporting and design
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK)’s 2024/25 Annual Report has received prestigious international recognition at two major annual report competitions. The report won the Platinum Award, the highest honour, in the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) 2024/25 Vision Awards, was named among the Top 100 Reports Worldwide, and received the Technical Achievement Award. It also earned Silver Medals in both the “Cover Design” and “Integrated Presentation” categories at the International Annual Report Design Awards (IADA) 2026 in the UK. These accolades recognise the report’s excellence in information communication, content development, creative design and institutional transparency.
Titled “Innovation on the Rise – 30 Years and Beyond”, the 2024/25 Annual Report illustrates how internationalisation and innovation continue to drive CityUHK forward. During the 2024/25 academic year, the University established several pioneering interdisciplinary research institutes to address major global challenges. At the same time, in response to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, CityUHK has been equipping students with advanced digital knowledge and skills to prepare them for success in the new era.
The report highlights CityUHK’s achievements in education, research, innovation and internationalisation, including its efforts to advance frontier research, strengthen collaboration with leading universities worldwide, and translate research outcomes into impactful solutions that benefit society. One notable example is the University’s “Fostering Innovation for Resilience and Sustainable Transformation” (FIRST) initiative, which has been endorsed by UNESCO. Through collaboration with global partners, the initiative develops affordable and sustainable technologies to enhance the quality of life of underserved communities and resource-constrained regions, reflecting CityUHK’s strong commitment to social responsibility.
To reflect how innovation is deeply embedded in CityUHK’s development strategy, the design of the 2024/25 Annual Report draws inspiration from the University’s vision of advancing science and technology and driving innovation on a global scale as a leading international university. The cover features a “Digital Eye”, which transforms into an abstract image of the Earth when the gatefold flap is opened. This interactive design symbolises CityUHK’s commitment to connecting with the world and vividly portrays its expanding international network and growing global impact.
CityUHK’s Annual Reports have received international recognition on numerous occasions over the years. The honours awarded to the 2024/25 Annual Report not only recognise its excellence in content development, design and production, but also reflect the University’s steadfast commitment to good governance, transparency and innovation, while showcasing its achievements and vision as it embarks on a new chapter beyond its 30th anniversary.
