Professor Freddy Boey resigns as CityUHK President

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) announced today (24 April 2026) that Professor Freddy Boey Yin Chiang has tendered his resignation to the University Council for personal reasons.  

The Council wishes to express its gratitude to Professor Boey for his contributions to the University during his tenure. The Executive Committee of Council has appointed Provost and Deputy President Professor Chun Sing Lee as Acting President with immediate effect to ensure continued operation. The Council will provide full support to ensure stability during the transition. 

A global recruitment exercise for the next President will be launched shortly.
