CityUHK maintains top 100 in QS World University Rankings 2nd only to Harvard, surpassing Caltech in Citations per Faculty
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) continues to rank among the top 100 universities, securing 63rd position in the 2026 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
In addition, CityUHK achieved a remarkable milestone, ranking 1st in Asia and 2nd globally, just behind Harvard University, in the "Citations per Faculty" indicator, setting a record for universities in Hong Kong.
This performance underscores CityUHK’s regional research leadership and internationally recognised achievements.
The 2026 QS World University Rankings covers a total of 1,501 universities. CityUHK excelled in multiple key indicators, leading Hong Kong in "Faculty Student Ratio," "Citations per Faculty," "International Faculty", and "International Students".
Named the “Most International University in the World” in 2024 and 2025, CityUHK is committed to developing Hong Kong into an international higher education hub, attracting outstanding students from all over the world and fostering a diverse, open, and vibrant academic community.
In response to the evolving global academic landscape, CityUHK recently launched a strategic initiative to support PhD talent from top international institutions affected by current circumstances, including an expedited admissions process, dedicated scholarships, and career support and opportunities to attract students to pursue doctoral degrees at CityUHK.
Since the initiative's launch, CityUHK has received inquiries from international students pursuing doctoral degrees at prestigious universities, such as Columbia University. CityUHK is actively following up, providing comprehensive support to facilitate the students’ studies at CityUHK.
Additionally, CityUHK remains dedicated to nurturing the next generation of scholars through initiatives such as the Distinguished Visiting Professors Scheme, the President’s Assistant Professors Scheme, and the Global Research Assistant Professors Programme. These efforts promote international research collaboration and drive interdisciplinary and cross-regional academic and research exchanges.
