Professor Luk Kwai-man, Chair Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), has helped to pioneer the revolutionary development of antennas over the past 30 years, from fish-bone-like antenna to compact antennas that are only a few millimetres long and even L-shape antenna.
Born and educated in Hong Kong, Professor Luk’s antenna research has a global impact and was conferred the Fellowship by the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK, in recognition of his excellent achievements in the field.
In addition to studying how to enhance the efficiency of transmission for mobile communication (including 5G), Professor Luk is trying to expand the applications of antennas to medical treatments, for example using radio waves to dissolve blood clots in the body of a patient who suffered a stroke.
At the upcoming press conference, Professor Luk will talk about the future development and applications of antennas, his latest research, and his thoughts about being conferred the title of Fellow. Media representatives are welcome to attend the conference.
