Twenty-eight students and faculty from CityU’s School of Creative Media and its State Key Laboratory in Marine Pollution will set off on an expedition to the Coral Triangle in the western regions of Pacific Ocean on 23 February.
 
Tracking freshly hatched baby turtles, monitoring rising sea levels, filming sharks in their natural habitat, and researching on the distribution of benthic and epiphytic toxic micro-algae are just some of the exciting activities that the group will undertake during the expedition.
 
They will be heading to the Solomon Islands and the Sipadan Islands in Sabah, Malaysia respectively.
 
The students will collect the environmental, ecological and sociological data and transform into a range of new media arts presentations. These exciting artworks will be showcased at a later exhibition with the aim of enhancing public awareness about conservation.
 
Students and underwater scientists will introduce their projects and activities at the media briefing. Media are cordially invited to attend and talk to the expedition team.
