Event: Press Conference: Homeless Outreach Population Estimation Hong Kong 2015 (HOPE HK 2015) Survey Report
Date: 8 January 2016 (Friday)
Time: 2:00 pm – 3:15 pm
Venue: Lily Chiang Lecture Theatre (LT7), 4/F, Academic 1, City University of Hong Kong, Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon
On 8 January 2016, City University of Hong Kong (CityU), together with groups from four community partners and four other universities, will release the latest findings of a city-wide homeless street count by HOPE HK 2015. Community organisations serving the homeless joined forces with university students to conduct the count, which took place in late October 2015.
At the press conference, CityU and the representatives from the participating organisations will present an analysis of the findings of the homeless count and discuss the impact of housing policy on homeless people. They will also make policy recommendations related to the homeless. Homeless individuals will share their experience living in the street or staying in 24-hour fast-food shops overnight.
The count was organised by CityU’s City-Youth Empowerment Project, together with groups from four community partners and four other universities. They are: Christian Concern For The Homeless Association, the Salvation Army, the Society for Community Organization, St James’ Settlement, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, Lingnan University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. A few HOPE HK 2015 volunteers and community workers from the partners of HOPE HK 2015 will also share their findings at the conference.
